Veterinary Medical Center was established in 1982 by Dr. JOE GASTON (UGA80) followed by Crabapple Knoll Veterinary Clinic in 1987. At each clinics we have a total of 35-40+ staff including 5-6 veterinarians and the highly trained support staff. We focus on excellent patient care and are open Monday thru Friday 630am-900pm, Sat. & Sun. 8am-5pm, closed holidays. Each full time veterinarian is scheduled an average of 38.33 hours/week and will work a night shift from 2-9 pm, two appointment shifts 630-230 and one surgery shift 630-230, and two weekend days over a 3 week period. Part time schedules vary. We put family first for our staff and do our best to cover when special needs or emergencies prevent you from covering your shifts.
We focus on the highest quality care possible with digital radiology, cold laser, stem cell therapy, orthopedic surgery including TPLO's, Medial Patella Luxation repairs and fracture repairs. soft tissue surgery, acupuncture, preventative medicine, mobile appointments when needed, and require continuing education 15 or more hours annually. We are proud to provide mentoring to new graduates and have staff available at all times for support during difficult cases.
The minimum base salary is $100,000+, depending on experience, as a draw against 20-21% of the veterinarian's gross income produced with most full time veterinarians producing $450,000-$750,000 annually. We have a 401K plan, Cafeteria plan for childcare, dental care and eye care, and contribute towards healthcare with United Healthcare. Each full time veterinarian receives 80 hours vacation/sick leave and 40 hours of continuing education leave. Our schedules are flexible enough for veterinarians to have extended weekends by switching shifts with other veterinarians. Each vet works one holiday per year to provide care for hospitalized patients. All veterinarians are encouraged to pursue any special area of interest in veterinary medicine they have.
VETERINARY STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SCHEDULE EXTERNSHIPS/PRECEPTORSHIPS AT EITHER CLINIC YOUR SENIOR YEAR TO HAVE A WORKING INTERVIEW FOR POTENTIAL EMPLOYMENT.

We would like the veterinarian to be articulate, well groomed, excited about veterinary medicine and its future and willing to dedicate themselves to the patient and the client. Most of our veterinarians remain with us 5+ years and eventually will open their own practices.
Additional Salary Information: Our base salary is a minimum. Production is multiplied by 20-21% at the end of the contract and a bonus is paid equal to the amount the percentage of production exceeding the base salary.
