As a Senior User Experience Researcher, you will collaborate closely with other User Experience Researchers, Industrial Designers and Graphic Designers to create user experiences for the next generation of consumer products. In this role you will create, document, and test user experiences on physical and digital products. This role requires an individual who can work independently as well as directly with our design teams in the US and UK. The role offers opportunities to collaborate with Marketing, R&D, Consumer Market Insights, etc. across a wide array of office locations.
Effectively collect key objective measures (i.e. physiological measures, motion tracking, etc.) via primary testing and directly translate data into actionable recommendations for product design
Create task analysis, competitive assessments, usability audits, and usability testing.
Act as a primary interface with key divisions relative to usability/interaction design issues and opportunities.
Work closely with design counterparts to effectively deliver industry leading user experience solutions.
Partner closely with all relevant divisions to ensure the deployment and adherence to established human factors design guidelines. Own and maintain those guidelines and update/modify as required to keep relevant.
Contribute to the overall vision and user interface solutions for current and future experiences from concept exploration to implementation.
Build an understanding and awareness of enabling technologies/software related to relevant product categories.
Interpret and translate product requirements into meaningful user experiences.
Drive the ideation process and present broad directions for products based on user requirements.
Communicate the ideal user experience at various stages of the development process. Be able to express them visually and functionally via task analysis, information architecture, workflows, paper sketches, wireframes and prototypes.
Work closely with Marketing, Engineering and Design to develop and communicate user interface solutions.
Develop patterns and interaction design standards to be used across various products and product categories.
Education: Minimum, Master of Science in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Ergonomics/Anthropometrics, Information/Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, or related field.
Work Experience: Five+ years of relevant experience working as a user experience design and/or usability professional in a corporate or consulting environment.
Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; ability to visualize and present information in a meaningful way to process partners.
Human Factors & Ergonomics: Ability to apply ergonomic and anthropometric data to drive requirements and improvements in products
Research, Analysis, & Translation: Experience on a broad range of research methodologies related to user experience design and ability to translate data into insights leading to measurable product improvements within a multidisciplinary team.
Usability Testing: Ability to conduct an entire usability study: moderate, take notes, plan and design the research activities.
UI Prototyping: Ability to create a wide range of prototypes from low (paper) to high (digital and interactive).
UI Behavior Specifications: Leads the development of the User Interface Specification with cross functional team and creates easy to use documentation based on project need.
Platform Design: Interaction design and information architecture skills as it relates to on-product, mobile, and web design
Emerging Technologies: Knowledge of relevant interface and emerging technologies.
Motivation: Self-motivated and flexible. From cooking to camping to candles – be willing to learn new things in a variety of domains
Project Management: Proven ability to drive multiple programs simultaneously.
Technical Experience: Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, Axure/InVision, Sketch.
