Leads a strategic sourcing team that negotiates University-wide agreements with Suppliers while ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations including Uniform Guidance and Yale procure-to-pay policies and procedures.Develops and manages global sourcing strategy for each category of spend across Yale and establishes sourcing criteria standards and future opportunities for consolidation.Aggressively manages category performance by adhering to internal Savings goals and reviewing financial models for commodity type items. Ensures spend portfolio for reoccurring managed spend is balanced through coordinated sourcing waves and leveraged with category-led project sourcing activities. Drives consolidation of spend and seeks out synergies across Department/Units where applicable, by forming and leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies and to drive cost from individual spend sub-categories. Champions regular category review meetings with cross-functional teams to manage category performance. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of business requirements and category ownership by creating and defending category strategies and decisions with sound analytics.Executes category sourcing strategies including development and execution of RFI's and RFP's, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers; develops selection criteria and drives the selection of suppliers in collaboration with a cross-functional teams; conducts supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management.Responsible for category savings reporting and targets. Assists in resolution of contract disputes and/or commercial issues related to the agreements.Identifies and drives process and service improvement opportunities.Actively seeks ways to streamline business processes; researches and provides information on industry category trends and best practices. Provide procurement input to maximize procurement leverage, optimize project design and minimize project durations and cost. Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis.Responsible for executive business reviews of strategic sourcing plan that defines, among other things, supplier performance, product roadmaps, supplier capabilities, future opportunities, and/or challenges.Validates achieved savings with each department/Unit impacted on strategic sourcing activities.Manages overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost and quality improvements.Maintain personal knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures and technical improvements.Provides oversight of work quality and constructive feedback to direct and indirect reports, where applicable.
