FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR , MIT Quest for Intelligence (MIT Quest) , to support the Quest administrative officer and work closely with the MIT IBM-Watson senior financial administrator to support sponsored research activity, contracts management, and overall financial activities of Quest. Will resolve moderately complex issues and serve as the point-of-contact for a designated set of PIs/faculty/staff on fiscal and project management matters. Project management responsibilities include coordinating new project set-up for various Quest sponsors based on internal processes and tools, including proposal submissions for research projects; advising principal investigators and their staff in other departments on research administration issues such as MIT policies/systems and sponsor reporting requirements; implement and maintain internal tracking, forecasting, and workflow processes for Quest-funded research projects; and working on special projects. Financial responsibilities include administering the daily financial operations of Quest including financial review and control (FRC) of Quest HQ accounts; reviewing expenditures/transactions to ensure compliance with budgets and MIT/sponsor policies; processing financial transactions; monitoring gift and research accounts, including initial set-up, extensions, and close-outs; preparing and analyzing the monthly portfolio of reports that monitor/forecast the financial performance and activity of research and fund accounts; credit card approvals and maintenance; approving invoices/RFPs and travel expense reports; and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in a related field of study; at least three years' relevant financial management experience; experience in academic programs and/or administration; excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills; attention to detail; demonstrated sound judgment; service orientation; and ability to work independently and within a coordinated team. Knowledge of and experience with sponsored research administration policies, sponsored accounting policies and MIT financial systems preferred. Job #18165-7
