The Social Media Manager, under direction from the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, is responsible for developing and disseminating content for that will enhance the brand image, reputation and support enrollment and retention goals.
Owns and drives the main A&M-San Antonio's social media properties and editorial calendar; work with team and campus for content, etc.
Develops/refines and execute the overall strategy, tactics, project management, analysis, policies, documentation, and reporting of A&M-SA's social media initiatives.
Creates and collaborates across the university on social media content that initiate discussions, grows audiences, and drives engagement. Explore new ways to engage audiences and identify new social media channels to reach our target audiences so Texas A&M University-San Antonio is a leader in social media. Advise, consult and train campus partners (admission, fundraising, arts, athletics, etc.) in how best to use social media.
Evaluates paid/promoted strategies for social media and develop plans for advertising in social media. Investigate and advise on social media budgets for tools, staffing, training, etc.
Provides live coverage of major events (e.g. commencement, convocation).
Recruit sand manages a sizable team of student volunteers to assist with event coverage and content sourcing and production including soon to launch brand ambassador program
Writes communication content for digital and social media platforms for informational and promotional materials associated with the brand.
Monitors key social media activities and participates proactively in dialogue.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field
At least five years of experience working social and digital media marketing and communications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrable experience managing multi-platform integrated marketing and communications message development and distribution
Demonstrated experience in project management, working with creative teams; and ability to conceptualize, develop and produce content for a variety of communications channels including analysis and reporting to strengthen organizational brand and reputation
Demonstrated experience in setting, monitoring and assessing data to align with goals
Superior spelling, punctuation and grammar skills
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments independently, with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives
Evidence of superior oral and written communication skills
Evidence of success working effectively with diverse constituencies and in a team environment
Communications and marketing experience in the context of an integrated marketing and communications environment
Strong knowledge on how to use Hoot suite, WordPress, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reedit ohter
Higher education or not-for profit experience preferred
