The Role Responsibilities
Provide legal support to the trade business globally.
Advise and collaborate with Product Management, operations, sales, relationship management and structuring teams on trade related issues and structured trade transactions, ensuring adequate protections to the Bank and adherence to Bank's policies.
Work on template agreements for various trade finance products and related transactions
Assist and collaborate with the Bank's lawyers globally on trade finance transactions
Advise and manage disputes relating to trade finance transactions
Work with legal colleagues specialising in Digitalization, Data and Platforms on projects relating to digitalisation of trade finance transactions.
Responsible for providing legal advice to Credit, Trade Operations, Product Management, Sales, Relationship teams and Structurers on Trade Finance related issues, transactions.
Work with Product Management teams on legal governance in respect of Trade Finance Products.
Provide training and guidance to business teams, operation teams, other support functions and lawyers on legal issues and documentations related to Trade Finance Products.
Work with external counsel on structured, syndicated transactions.
Work with the Bank's lawyers globally on Trade Finance Transactions.
Our Ideal Candidate
Qualified lawyer with at least 8 years PQE with qualifications in at least one common law jurisdiction.
Experience in Trade Finance, Supply Chain Finance, dealing with physical and the various Trade finance instruments (such as bank guarantees, documentary letters of credit and bills of exchange).
Knowledge of industry rules such as UCP 600, ISP 98, URDG758 and URC 522 would be an advantage.
Experience with digital trade finance platforms, electronic transactions and digital trade instruments.
Experience in dealing with cross border transactions and familiarity with legal issues related to such transactions.
Effective communication and strong analytical skills with a focus on problem solving is important.
Good team player but with an ability to work independently.
Keen interest in learning and exploring Trade Finance and new innovative ways of offering such financing to the Bank's clients.
