Director, Consumer Compliance
What does a great Director, Consumer Compliance do?
You will provide leadership in the development of compliance architecture, administration and management of compliance programs for the Digital Lending & Origination division. You will lead initiatives that align with the strategic direction of Digital Lending products and services.
You will manage the daily activities of Lending compliance operations and working closely with the Legal Department to coordinate with their Compliance function that supports the Digital Lending Division. Leading the administration, implementation and monitoring of processes, you will ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, federal and where applicable, state rules and regulations as well as private lending network rules such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. You will collaborate with product development, professional services and engineering development to ensure Digital Lending & Origination meets compliance requirements.
Banks all over the country are using our technology, and we are actively working to expand into every corner of the digital finance world: credit card applications, opening bank accounts, applying for home equity lines of credit. You can look forward to these essential responsibilities:
Apply long-term corporate vision and direction to the Compliance function.
Develop strategic and tactical plans to respond to the changing regulatory environment.
Work with the Legal Department in order to assess the companys regulatory risks, and determine the adequacy of existing policies, procedures, training and objectives.
Partner with Legal for guidance on all legal matters to interpret laws, regulations and payment network rules. Prioritize compliance program efforts, and work with Legal on changes in business activities.
Recommend and implement business unit programs, policies and procedures for compliance with contractual requirements, federal and state laws.
Provide leadership and guidance to a team of 2-3 Compliance Analysts.
Prepare formal compliance reports to senior management for review and approval.
Respond to alleged violations of compliance rules, regulations, policies and procedures by recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
Support development and execution of a system for uniform handling of potential violations.
Maintain effective working relationships with all business units/groups, and external auditing companies.
Coordinate across business functions and in consultation with Legal for regulatory examinations and audits.
Oversee regulatory compliance reviews, audits, self-assessments, and systematic reviews for all products within the scope of responsibility.
Recognize and respond to emerging coverage and compliance concerns.
Work closely with all Digital Lending & Origination departments to ensure that regulatory compliance inquiries are addressed as requested by internal and external parties.
Conduct Compliance Risk Assessments to determine inherent and residual risk ratings across all systems and services.
Conduct annual NACHA self-audit as required by NACHA and internal audits.
Monitor and track adherence to regulatory standards, including new laws and regulations that might affect the company.
Participate in cross-functional team meetings to implement and execute company initiatives.
Represent the company in compliance-related discussions and meetings with internal and external clients.
Attend professional meetings, seminars, and continued education programs to remain current in compliance, regulatory requirements and company procedures.

Basic qualifications for consideration:
5 years experience in regulatory compliance
5 years experience in compliance for mortgage lending and consumer banking
3 years experience managing direct reports
5 years experience interacting with auditors and internal stakeholders
Understanding of banking compliance and legal processes
Bachelors degree required; Masters preferred
Preferred qualifications for consideration:
10 years of related experience in banking and/or loan origination
5 years experience in mortgage, automotive loans or loan servicing
Strong client relationship and communication skills
Results oriented, with proven leadership and sound business judgment skills
Ability to multi-task and handle deadlines; dependable
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
