The Associate Director of Video Production assists in managing the creation and curation of video storytelling for University Marketing & Communications (UMAC), its partners, and units that it serves. The Associate Director of Video Production advances the work of UMAC by ensuring the superior quality, efficient workflow and timeliness of all delivered projects while elevating the quality of storytelling for the University.The position leads the UMAC Creative video team and is responsible for managing staff, accurate and responsible management of budgets, organizing logistics, and building relationships across the university. Duties may include developing content concepts, writing, producing, directing, and editing and perhaps shooting original material for a variety of platforms, both external and internal. This position reports to the UMAC Creative Director. The role will manage other video content creators, coordinate the work of colleagues, and manage outside vendors.Duties and ResponsibilitiesVideo ProductionThe Associate Director Video Production will be responsible for creating video content to support the University brand and help tell UW stories in a compelling and engaging fashion. They will lead work across disciplines, creating wide-ranging content that maintain and advance the University brand. They will collaborate with other creatives and lead projects from ideation to delivery--on budget, on schedule, and to specifications. The position may work with colleagues and partners to secure locations, permits, rent and return equipment, and other pre-production duties as needed. During production, the AD of Video Production must be able to direct and manage small crews. The role may also be called upon to edit or supervise edit sessions and other post-production duties. (40%)Team LeadershipThe Associate Director Video Production oversees the work of team members and lends guidance and support to video content creators across the University. Provide leadership and set the tone for professional and positive content creation. Make recommendations for improvements to the senior leadership based on evaluation and analysis and oversee any implementation of recommendations. Responsible manage project budgets. (35%)Concept PresentationAssociate Director Video Production meets with stakeholders at the beginning of each project to identify the project scope, deliverables, budget, and timeline. They will ascertain the message and values that need to be communicated and the desired outcomes. Using knowledge of media platforms and creative communication, they will devise a plan and present their strategy to the stakeholders to create buy-in. (10%)Delivery to specificationsTo ensure that materials are delivered to the correct technical requirements for end use, this position oversees the work of colleagues and vendors to ensure that technical and quality standards are maintained and assets are delivered as expected. Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree.Proven experience in video/multimedia production and best practices, including proficiency in field and studio production and post-production software.Ability to manage multiple projects at once and work under tight deadlines.Must be able to work successfully in a team environment as well as independently.Commitment to promoting a diverse workplace. Excellent computer skills, specifically on the Macintosh platform. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Acrobat) and have the ability to use peripheral hardware as necessary.
