The Digital Projects Assistant assists with a wide range of digital projects from university collections that advance the teaching and research mission of Northwestern. Primary duties include inventorying rare materials, testing systems, tracking projects, and adding digital assets to the Libraries Digital Collections systems for use by the Northwestern community.
Inventorying of rare items from university collections to prepare them for digital reformatting and ingesting into digital asset systems. Assessing physical items and flagging them for review by preservation staff. Tracking work in project management system by entering and updating data about projects.
Software testing of digital asset systems and repository tools developed and maintained by the libraries. Troubleshoots issues. This may include updating documentation, alerting development team of critical issues, and/or entering bugs/tasks in Github.
Participates in the ongoing content development of systems that preserve and provide access to digital collections by assisting with batch ingest, assigning permissions, and other actions. Suggests updates to policies and procedures when necessary.
Serves as assistant and backup for management/coordination of digital projects as needed. This includes meeting with other project managers, stakeholders, and staff digitizing or cataloging collections and synthesizing conversations to identify needs and decision points
Participates in departmental and working group meetings, committees, task forces and special projects as needed. Responsible for checking department email and writing precise and well-organized emails to internal and external customers, such as staff and faculty. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
5 years of library experience or relevant experience required.
