Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist I Photo for Rutgers New Brunswick Campus. This position reports to the Manager for Creative Services for Rutgers University – New Brunswick & Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences. This position brings exceptional photo, video, and audio capturing and editing skills, project management experience, competent writing abilities, and social media capabilities. The Edit/Media Specialist I Photo supports the vision, mission, and goals of the department and provides input to enhance the reputation of Rutgers – New Brunswick and RBHS and to attract the best students, faculty, staff, and donors to the university.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for the creation of photo and video content for campaigns, public relations, and social media posting across the New Brunswick and RBHS campuses. This includes video and photography pre and post production planning and execution.
Plans, shoots, edits and produces videos and images for use in campus- wide communications, on websites, large “impact” videos and photos for campaigns and social media.
Photographs high-quality, compelling images for print, digital, web and social media.
Provides direction and logistics for projects including shot sheets, releases, and coordination and maintenance of images and footage.
Videos and photography are delivered in a streamlined, efficient, effective manner and compliant with Rutgers’s visual identity and editorial standards.
Manages concept and story development, gathering video and audio footage, editing, and archiving of branded, short-form and long-form videos used primarily on the web.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree, in photography, journalism, communications or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two year’s relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Background in videography and photography is required.
Advanced knowledge of Premiere, Lightroom, and Photoshop required.
Advanced working knowledge of DSLRs cameras, lighting, and audio recording equipment required. Adobe After Effects capabilities is a plus.
Must have baseline knowledge of key social-media video metrics for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and understand how to use those metrics to drive decision-making.
Extensive photography portfolio and link to video reel/samples required.
Must be a strategic thinker, proven problem-solver and value collaboration with other people and units.
Must have strong organization, project management, and interpersonal skills.
Experience at an institution of higher education is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of video and audio production.
Adept in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Audition and After Effects.
Technical ability with DSLR cameras, lenses, flashes, filters, lighting, etc.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Some evening and weekend work required.
Occasional intercampus travel required.
