Provide managerial level support for the Housing & Food Services custodial program, including direct oversight of the apartments and Night Team custodial operations. Manage custodial and unit-wide administrative programs.We seek a leader who will build on our successes and continue to refine and improve services to our students, staff, faculty and guests, drawing inspiration from our customers and strategic priorities. Key ResponsibilitiesCustodial OperationsAssist the Assistant Director for Custodial Services in managing the overall custodial operation for Housing & Food Services including hiring, training, development, and performance management of personnel.Direct daily custodial operations in all HFS apartments and other assigned areas, including scheduling, supervision, and staff assignments.Direct the nightly custodial operations for HFS Dining Venues, childcare centers, and residential buildings as the manager for Night Team Custodial.Supervise the Custodial Operations Assistant. Ensure adherence to cleaning standards and support the HFS custodial quality assurance program.Through the Custodian Supervisor for Apartments manage the HFS carpet cleaning crew including maintaining the annual service schedule.SupervisionSupervise the work of direct reports, ensuring appropriate productivity and quality.Evaluate the work completed by direct reports and provide constructive feedback so as to support success.Ensure proper implementation of Department and University personnel, payroll, and safety policies and procedures.Assist the Assistant Director in the planning and direction of hiring for permanent and temporary custodians, assumption of higher-level duties for staff, staffing reassignments and training. Oversee the planning and hiring for temporary custodians based on operational needs.Facilities and Department OperationsIn collaboration with Residential Life staff, coordinate the mid-term and vacancy inspection process for all on-campus units.Oversee and implement Housing & Food Services Cleanliness Inspection process for residence halls and apartment communities.Coordinate with the Facilities Manager for Maintenance Operations to ensure readiness of all apartment units through coordination of maintenance and cleaning turns.Administer contracts for delivery of services including apartment custodial turns and all HFS window and pressure washing.Provide program oversight for all room condition reporting and damage billing.Develop and maintain a comprehensive custodial training program including: o New employee orientation o Health and safety training o Maintenance training o Cleaning practices and methods o Employee development Update and routinely review policies.Respond to University and Department emergencies, including serving in the Unit Response Center when activated to support HFS facilities, services and communities.Contribute to the Facilities Services & Planning budget creation process, accounting for costs associated from outside vendors, telecommunications, and perennial maintenance projects.Serve as interdepartmental liaison with campus partners or other agencies. Serve on campus committees as assigned.Serve as project manager for Facilities Services & Planning projects upon request.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSA bachelor's degree and two years of full-time experience in custodial services, university housing management, or facilities management. Experience supervising or directing the work of others. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may substitute for these qualifications. ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONExperience that demonstrates:Strong oral and written communications skills Ability to interpret or administer contracts and/or manage the delivery of contracted servicesAbility to develop and implement complex scheduling requirementsAbility to develop ideas and implement them through teamwork and collaborationExperience utilizing Microsoft Office, computerized maintenance management systems, or, housing information management systems.Familiarity with UW Housing & Food Services facilities, policies, and proceduresKnowledge of custodial methods, best practices, and quality assurance programs.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTMaintenance of a valid Washington Driver's License.Benefits: Full benefits, including medical and dental insurance and retirement.
