The Block Museum of Art is a dynamic, imaginative, and innovative teaching and learning resource for Northwestern and its surrounding communities, featuring a global exhibition program that crosses time periods and cultures and serves as a springboard for thought-provoking discussions relevant to our lives today. We are seeking an experienced, tech savvy, and detail-oriented Media Producer to help us reach The Block’s communication goals, and to support the work of the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications.
Together, the Senior Communications Manager and Media Producer work with the support of student workers and in collaboration with the rest of The Block Museum’s departments to further the reputational goals of the museum. The Communications team creates and amplifies stories that promote the exhibitions, programs, and events that enrich the museum’s teaching and learning vision.
Working Conditions: Able to occasionally shift hours to work one or two monthly evening or weekend engagement programs. This is currently a 20 hour/week position.
Generate—and reformat as needed—graphic design for exhibition wordmarks, posters, postcards, print and digital advertising, website visuals, etc., implementing museum-wide design standards and utilizing current graphic design programs. (InDesign, Photoshop, Canva)
Maintain and update frequent content changes on the museum’s website and digital platforms. Oversee content-based improvements in web function and usability, and work toward SEO improvements, for museum’s digital ecosystem. (Cascade, Eventbrite, Plan-it-Purple)
Plan, shoot, edit, and upload dynamic web videos promoting museum projects and documenting events. Process podcasts from museum conversations & lectures (Vimeo, Soundcloud)
Alongside Senior Communications Manager, oversee the production of the museum’s seasonal print program. (3x a year)
Design press releases for digital distribution.
Create and oversee print production of postcards, banners, flyers and brochures for the museum’s events. Assist with program distribution.
Working cross-departmentally, develop and design the museum’s annual report.
Draft electronic newsletters via Mailchimp for an outreach list of over 19,000 recipients. With Senior Communications Manager, refine and send weekly messages. Responsible for the upkeep, segmentation and organization of digital contact list.
Organize, archive, and share all event photography and video documentation through museum’s internal filing systems (Box, MDAM) as well as on the Vimeo channel.
Assist with the implementation, management and oversite of the museum’s digital marketing tools (including action sprout, issuu, Eventbrite, wufoo, neon crm, google analytics, and box)
Assist with the authoring, design and promotion of weekly blog posts on the museum’s WordPress channel.
Assist the Senior Communications Manager with other duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science is required; with a concentration in digital media, digital communications, visual or moving image arts, desired.
Technical familiarity and expertise with media editing tools and software, such as Final Cut Pro, is necessary.
Able to occasionally shift hours to work one or two monthly evening or weekend engagement programs.
