Participates in designing, delivering, evaluating and improving services to students and faculty in support of the learning programs of the College.
The Dental Hygiene Program Facility Assistant has a wide range of responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to, the following general responsibilities: 1. Maintains clinical facility in a state of readiness for effective and efficient daily operation, such as patient care experiences and laboratory exercises. 2. Supports faculty as a resource. Sets up demonstrations for instructors through clinical area and laboratory preparation for practical exercises and student learning activities and experiences. 3. Issues equipment, materials and other supplies to students. 4. May assist students in specified areas of the clinical laboratory; maintains and supervises clinic support areas such as x-ray rooms and sterilization lab. 5. Maintains patient records, digital software data and runs reports in accordance with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) requirements. 6. Disseminates relevant information pertaining to the clinical laboratory and classroom laboratory facility and work areas to the Program Director and appropriate faculty. 7. Interacts with the public and responds to patient requests for appointments and records/x-ray mailing requests. 8. Maintains inventory of clinical supplies in stock room, restocks clinic shelves and orders supplies as needed. 9. Maintains sterilization equipment, performs tests to ensure sterilization equipment is functioning optimally. 10. Opens the department each morning, initiates the clinic start up check list, sterilizes instruments and prepares the facility for the day. 11. Supports the Program’s CODA accreditation maintenance and report activities.
Candidates must have the following qualifications: 1. A dental background in dental assisting or dental hygiene 2. Proficient in the Dentrix dental management software 3. Experience with digital dental radiography 4. Current Basic Life Support with AEDCPR certification 5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel 6. Excellent interpersonal communication skills 7. Ability to multi-task 8. Problem solving skills 9. History of excellent attendance
