The Facilities Management unit of the Division of Facilities and Services is seeking applications for an HVAC Manager position. This position will be responsible for the overall operations of the Mechanical Systems Shop, as well as maintaining the entire campus heating and air conditioning systems.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Manage highly skilled personnel in the HVAC, Mechanical and Controls Technician areas, as well as technical programs designed to control maintenance, repair and alterations of University facilities with regard to Facilities Management operations and responsibilities.
Develop and implement plans for repair and maintenance to include identification, prioritization, budget development, design and scheduling.
Identify, prioritize and manage a $145M in deferred maintenance in the campus mechanical systems area.
Ensure building systems are functioning 24-hours a day to ensure student and employee comfort.
Set vision and develop departmental goals and objectives to deliver highly technical maintenance skills and timely services to exceed customer satisfaction.
Develop, implement, train and measure staff performance based on department objectives and metrics.
Ensure proper monitoring and maintenance of the University computerized building management systems that provide system data, information and control of Central Chiller Plants, air handling units, cooling tower, pumps and motors, and associated equipment.
Acts as a project manager for large repairs, equipment replacement and various other projects, which includes developing scope, reviewing drawings, coordinating schedules and budgets, and managing contractors hired to complete the projects.
Act as Facilities liaison with the WVU community by effectively and accurately communicating with staff, customers and administration on all issues, concerns and resolutions.
Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical or systems engineering
Completed course work directly related to mechanical, electrical or systems engineering and experience in facilities engineering, HVAC or mechanical maintenance which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job may be considered
At least four (4) years of experience in f acilities engineering with a focus on mechanical maintenance, commercial HVAC, building automation systems and integration of various infrastructure components and systems
Valid driver's license
West Virginia HVAC Technician License must be obtained within the first year of employment
Type I, Type II and 410A or a Universal with a 410A - EPA requires this license for working on Freon containing equipment.
