The Building Maintenance Supervisor provides hand-on supervision and administration of the physical plant day shift custodial, grounds, maintenance and related facilitates services at Hennepin Technical College (Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie Campuses) to include planning, budgeting, project management, hands-on leadership, and optimization responsibilities to ensure the physical plant is operational and meets stakeholder needs for a safe and welcoming environment. This position coordinates work activities with evening shift counterparts and will rotate between campuses on a regular basis.
Specific duties include:
Lead, supervise, schedule, direct and evaluate department personnel
Manage physical plant custodial, grounds, maintenance and related facilities services, including hands-on duties within the various areas supervised, to achieve optimal quality, cost and responsive services
Provide coverage for 1st Class - C Chief Boiler responsibility
Administer assigned projects, participate in planning of alignment of services and facilities resources
Plan for and administer yearly delegated budgets maintaining fiscal stewardship and compliance
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner

Two (2) years of supervisory and operations management experience in facilities administration
Licensed as a Minnesota Chief Class C (or higher) Low Pressure Boiler Operator
Experience in hazardous material management (abatement processes and procedures)
Experience sufficient to demonstrate hands-on abilities in operational duties related to physical plant custodial, grounds, maintenance and related facilities services
Physical strength to handle 50+ pound objects, and mobility without significant accommodations
Five (5) years of progressive supervisory management experience in facilities administration
Associate's or higher degree in Facilities Management or related area
Facilities experience within an organization that is similar to the environment and complexity of Hennepin Technical College
Working knowledge of financial management principles and/or contracting requirements and processes
Project management experience developing project plans, optimizing and coordinating work activities
Working knowledge of general repair work, such as methods, practices, materials and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of various types of buildings, mechanical/electrical systems, grounds maintenance, etc
Knowledge and understanding of ongoing and preventive maintenance of physical plant equipment and systems
Knowledge in the overall operations of educational institutions and/or governmental operations
