The Director of Advancement will provide leadership, coordination and implementation of the college's fundraising operations. The Director of Advancement will lead, review and provide work direction to professional and support staff in the division, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the college's philanthropic priorities.
The director will manage a comprehensive stewardship program and provide high-level fiscal administration that ensures accurate daily and annual reconciliation, and serve as liaison with Hennepin Technical College's business office and external auditors. The director will manage and supervise the fundraising operations to include processing charitable gifts. The director must manage the division's database as well as maintain the division's policies and procedures. This position works directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and fully supports the College's commitment to equity and inclusion.
Specific duties include:
Provide strategic leadership, annual goals, and long-range and short-term planning for the areas of gift processing, database integrity, reporting, data analysis, stewardship, prospect management and research.
Oversee all pre-award activity including the preparation of grant and contract applications in accordance with college and agency guidelines.
Organize and manage grant activities for the foundation by managing accounting, financial reporting, and pre- and post-award grant administration.
Manage a comprehensive stewardship plan and build trust through consistent and meaningful contact.
Assist with planning and coordinating stewardship events.
Administer all data to ensure a high-level system of tracking donors and gifts, department budgeting, expense analysis and annual reports.
Serve as the division's lead project manager to include defining project scope, priorities and deliverables.
Provide work direction to professional and support staff and monitor overall completion of staff assignments.
Manage the college's employee giving program to include solicitation, gift administration, event planning, stewardship, reporting and establishing annual goals.

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with database software and donor management
Must have a high level of competency with computer software products such as Microsoft Excel, Word, CVS files, and other programs that may be uses for creating reports, and creating and merging records for reports, mailing, and sharing information between databases
Ability create data queries across multiple databases and compile information to meet departmental needs
Knowledge and experience of IRS and CASE regulation and procedures as they relate to entering and acknowledging charitable donations in a non-profit environment
Knowledge and experience in working with donors, database software, donor tacking, and stewardship
Excellent writing skills sufficient to write donor correspondence to include thank you letters, stewardship reports, and informational materials
Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive and/or confidential projects
Demonstrated ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment
Ability to travel between campuses as well as other local and regional venues
Ability to move up to 15 pounds
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related fields from a regionally accredited institution
Two years of supervisory or lead management experience
5 years' experience working with database software and donor management
Understanding of statistics, data mining principles, development and fundraising principles
