Job Description Summary
Reporting to the University Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and working in close collaboration with the CISO and the other Directors in the organization, the IT Director is charged with helping to develop and lead in implementing information security strategy and tools within the ISC Office of Information Security.
The individual is responsible for: providing leadership as well as overseeing day-to-day operations and activities related to the creation and delivery of security projects to the University; planning and managing complex multi-year projects and associated initiatives designed to improve the Universityâ™s overall information security program; facilitating campus-wide working groups point of contact to diverse University community in support of these effort; supporting the CISO in the delivery of his/her duties when needed; maintaining knowledge of changing information security threats, technologies, best practices and regulations; developing and implement methods for supporting, measuring and reporting on University compliance with relevant legal and policy requirements; reviewing and updating internal policies, procedures and guidance to ensure continued relevance and applicability; and coaching and direct more junior staff.
Bachelorâ™s degree in Computer Science or other related field and a minimum of seven years of information security work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Â Demonstrated experience with project management, including planning, conducting and overseeing efforts associated with multiple, simultaneous initiatives. The ability to plan, manage and maintain a complex, organization-wide program over the longer term.Â Demonstrated ability to motivate autonomous organizational units to make security improvements and the ability to work in environments where information security does not operate with heavy handed mandates. Experience supervising and coaching.Â Experience presenting to and working with executives and/or faculty preferred. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and effectively collaborate with others. Experience with common security and privacy legislation and regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, FERPA, HIPAA, etc.) preferred.
