Provide in-house and customer on-site technical service through design, engineering, installation, maintenance, alignment, and repair of VHF/UHF MHz analog, digital, and trunked dispatch consoles, repeaters, base stations, mobiles, portable subscriber units, TX combiners, RX multi-couplers, antennas systems, and other 2-way radio communication equipment consistent with manufacturer and company guidelines. Also, he/she must assist with design and manage the installation of complex mobile voice and data radio systems. In addition, he/she must maintain positive customer relations. Must possess IP networking knowledge and skills with ability to program, troubleshoot, and perform system diagnostics on complex communication systems.
Install cable, antenna, mobile, fixed radio, and all associated hardware consistent with project requirements and according to installation and safety standards.
Stage, build, and program RF systems to manufacturer specifications assisting sales personnel to meet customer expectations.
Assist with end user and sales personnel systems training.
Deconstruct installation sites as required.
Work in conjunction with other service technicians to gain knowledge and insight of all equipment.
Inventory and assemble parts prior to installation to ensure correct parts are available to complete project.
Optimize site following installation to ensure system or equipment function properly; perform programming or run diagnostics as appropriate.
Use of RF test equipment.
Determine customer requirements to assist in developing labor and cost estimates.
Ability to travel to customer locations for all necessary installation, service, and maintenance.
Complete sales/service orders, order fulfillment, and other required work documents.
Maintain positive customer relations.
Accountable for repair cycle times, quality of installation, service, repair, and system maintenance.
Assist other departments as needed.
He/she must be a team player, customer service oriented, willing to learn and able to work flexible hours.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. required.
The individual will need no less than (3) three years’ experience in the two-way communication industry or a minimum of a (2) two year degree in an RF Electronic related program.
(2) years of full-time experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of trunked radio, microwave and related communications equipment. One year of additional related experience may substitute for the education requirement.
Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and submit a satisfactory driving history (within the last six months) obtained from the California DMV at the selection interview.
Possession of at least one valid license or certificate as listed is highly desirable: Cisco CCNA; ETA General Communications Technician; ETA Certified Electronics Technician: CET, CETa, CETsr, CETma ;FCC General Radio Telephone Operator’s License; Associated Public-Safety Communication Officer, Inc. (APCO) Certificate; National Association of Business and Educational Radio, Inc. (NABER) Certificate; National Association of Radio and Telecommunications Engineers, Inc. (NARTE) Certificate.
