We seek a motivated, hardworking student to research phosphorus management in Alabama soils using field and watershed models such as EPIC, SWAT, etc. The student will conduct field runoff studies, utilize computer modeling, and integrate advanced data analytics to model phosphorus losses from agricultural fields in Alabama as well as helping to identify management practices best suited to reduce P runoff losses from agricultural fields. The student will also assist in related research projects, manage day-to-day field/laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and develop manuscripts for publication in peer- reviewed scientific journals.
Qualifications: Applicants should have an M.S. degree in soil science, agricultural engineering, environmental biogeochemistry, hydrology, agronomy, or in other closely related field. The applicant should have experience conducting field research and should be familiar with GIS and models such as EPIC and SWAT. The applicant must have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and graduate course work in soil biogeochemistry, GIS, nutrient management, Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), and have excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate will enroll in the Ph.D. program in Soil Science degree in the Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences, Auburn University.
