Emergency Management full-time non-tenure track academic position - (190000VK)
The University of Maryland Baltimore, Carey School of Law, Center for Health and Homeland Security (CHHS) is now accepting applications for a full-time non-tenure track academic position. The candidate will work directly with the planning staff in the Office of Emergency Management of a local jurisdiction in the Baltimore/Washington region to prepare for all-hazards events and disasters through planning, training, and exercising.
Essential Duties: * Apply the principles and practices of emergency management to perform professional project tasks in such programs as:
o Corrective Actions, Finance and Administration, Logistics, Mitigation, Public Outreach, Planning, Recovery, Resiliency, Response, and Training & Exercise. o Provide support and analysis in functional activities such as developing emergency plans; planning trainings and workshops; providing training and presentations; and collaborating with county, community, and regional partner agencies. o Prepare draft solutions and examples; implementing programs; developing policies and procedures; developing requests for proposals, memorandums of understanding, and other technical documents. * Analyze and evaluate current trends and best practices to identify hazards, reduce vulnerability, and improve emergency response; * Participate in the evaluation, integration, and operations of emergency management support tools and applications; * Develop, implement, monitor, report, and provide recommendations on assigned projects; * Assists in the preparation of briefings; attends meetings to take notes, provides support, and then prepares and distributes notes or minutes; * Researches issues and draft reports.
Minimum Qualifications * Advanced degree required * 1-3 years of experience in the emergency management or related field strongly preferred
