The Director will manage the Career Development Office to further its mission in maximizing student and recent graduate preparation for the job market. The Director will report to and collaborate with the Senior Assistant Dean to innovate and develop strategies and initiatives that cultivate and create employment opportunities while maintaining and building positive relationships with various Loyola Law School constituencies.
Typically a Juris Doctor degree from ABA/AALS accredited law school. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
Minimum five years of experience managing/supervising a team under pressure to meet performance goals. Experience in law school or higher education administration, and/or career services strongly preferred. Knowledge of the legal job market preferred. The successful candidate will be capable of leading a team that must innovate, prioritize, adapt, communicate, and partner effectively in a changing institution and changing job market.
Demonstrated knowledge of the legal employment market preferred including an understanding of the changing landscape of employment opportunities for law students and graduates.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic or innovative initiatives, particularly to enhance and expand professional opportunities (including employment) for students and alumni.
Communicate effectively to build relationships with a diverse group of employers, students, faculty, staff, vendors, alumni, and other program participants.
Work independently, develop initiatives, exercise good judgment, be resourceful and make decisions.
Remain calm and professional when faced with a challenging/sensitive situation and respond with tact and diplomacy.
Excellent management skills required.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
Possess highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills to successfully manage a large volume of diverse tasks/projects, often with conflicting demands and/or moving sudden deadlines.
Possess excellent, demonstrated project management and planning experience.
