The role of the dedicated professionals who work in the Controller's Office is to provide services and financial oversight of various University-wide functions including: accounting, accounts payable (including travel reimbursements), banking and treasury operations, endowment and gift accounting, financial and tax reporting, payroll, procurement, property accounting, student financial services, and sponsored programs post award administration.
Detailed Job Description
Develop a comprehensive business plans for camps, fundraisers, and clinics including:
Provide operational oversight for each camp's operating budget
Ensure adherence to University procurement policies
Prepare camp communications for website and coordinate advertising.
Act as the primary point of contact with University business offices ensuring that each camp is planned and carried out to minimizes exposure for RIT
Provide on-going oversight of camp operations including
Prepare a wrap-up and assessment of each camp program
Provide HR support for all new hires, terminations and current employees.
Perform budget activities for Intercollegiate Athletics including annual fiscal year budget preparation, salary planning, capital planning, and budget reallocations.
Work with Student Affairs division directors and other staff to perform periodic compliance testing to ensure effective design and operation of all standardized controls; report results to management including recommendation for changes when required.
Act as back-up for the Digital Den (DD) retail store accounting and reporting functions
Complete other special projects as assigned by management.
Participate in 40 hours of training/professional develop annually. Training must be applicable to the employee's role within the Controller's Division with the intent of enhancing overall knowledge as well as the specific skills, whether functional or technical, required to perform successfully in the position. It would also be beneficial to obtain training in athletics type professional development programs.
Required Minimum Qualifications
BS in Accounting or Business Administration required. Five to six years general accounting experience required. Strong PC and MS Excel skills and knowledge of internal control processes required. Experience with the Oracle financial applications or another enterprise-wide system required.
Skills: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills required with ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks/demands simultaneously, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred: MBA or CPA preferred. Preference given to applicants with prior relevant experience in a university setting.
