We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to work with a multi-disciplinary project team to execute the scope for one or more sponsored research projects. The NREC, a leader in robotics technology development and commercialization, serves as the technology transfer arm for the world-renowned Robotics Institute.
As Technical Project Manager (TPM) on selected projects, you will be expected to deliver successful projects while adding new value for our sponsors, licensing NREC and CMU technologies, and generating follow-on business. Excellent project management is critical to the successful transition of robotics technology into the industries that NREC serves.
Your core responsibilities include:
Performing in a multi-functional structure, working with management to establish the priorities to ensure that business needs and customer expectations are being met efficiently and effectively.
Crafting project management documentations and work/resource plans.
Ensuring development /execution of project plans that define activities, dependencies and outputs.
Leading a project team throughout the Project Life Cycle including requirements analysis, design, prototype, build, test, deployment and transition.
Collaborating with team members in project effort analysis, issues management, risk management and quality assurance.
Managing project quality to ensuring customer expectations are fulfilled through the delivery of project objectives.
Handling the project budget both internally and externally so that the project is executed within budget.
Performing change management for the project as to scope, schedule and budget.
Managing client expectations for timely review and approval of change orders.
Providing technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams to ensure that priorities and direction are aligned with the project goals.
Collaborating with key partners, business managers and engineers to build consensus around architectural solutions, define high-level and detailed requirements, and deliver projects successfully
Experience with mining or heavy equipment industries is preferred but not required"

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in science or engineering
8 years or more of project management experience required
Excellent problem-solving, reasoning, organization, planning, teamwork, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills required
