Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, with oversight from Faculty Co-Director Cade Massey, the People Lab Director is responsible for the development and management of the People Lab, an online platform that serves to advance the science of assessment for the purpose of individual growth. The Lab develops and administers character-strength assessments, and related educational resources, fueled over time by the application of people analytics. The Director plays a critical role in advancing the Labâ™s faculty-driven research projects, the educational function of People Lab, along with the digital platformâ™s ongoing development. The Director serves as the primary liaison with Wharton stakeholders, particularly Executive Education and the McNulty Leadership Program to leverage the People Labâ™s output for use with students, alumni, and clients, and fuel the Labâ™s ongoing data collection. The Director is also a critical member of the WPA team, contributing to and integrating WPAâ™s strategic goals and research portfolio into People Lab as relevant, particularly in relation to WPAâ™s work in sports analytics, assessment, and leadership development.
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Director is responsible for the staffing of the lab, the construction and oversight of its budget, reporting on the Labâ™s progress, and its day-to-day management, and serves as a primary ambassador to external partners. The Director works in close collaboration with the WPA research team to design and execute People Lab research studies, and contribute to the work of the WPA research team.
The Director is responsible for:
The development and management of the labâ™s digital platform in concert with external vendors,Â Wharton staff, and the McNulty Leadership Program; the development and integration of educational resources in concert with participating faculty; furthering the labâ™s use of analytics to drive educational recommendations; and enabling academic research through the use of the labâ™s platform, and deployment of original assessments.
Expertise in developing online educational resources and/or product development essential. Experience with assessment, psychology and sports analytics highly valued. Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree preferred, and 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Project management experience is required. Other required experience includes:
