Job Description Summary
The Information Systems and Computing (ISC) Director of Human Resources provides oversight and organizational leadership in the areas of: organization design and development, recruitment, employee relations matters, compensation, benefits, compliance, training and development strategies for a technical work force, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and efforts related to the reward and recognition of a technical staff.
Reporting directly to the Associate Chief Information Office, with a dotted line to Core Human Resources, the Director of Human Resources for ISC acts as a strategic business partner to senior leadership and management and conducts research and analysis to identify IT workforce trends to support ISCâ™s long term organizational strategies, including a blended workforce environment of employees and vendor resources.
This position evaluates, recommends, and implements programs for organizational development assuring retention and competitiveness in the IT job market.Â Supports change management initiatives and acts as a change agent to drive business results, including process improvement, organizational design and realignment in a dynamic, fast-faced and evolving IT organization.Â
Works in collaboration and consultation with the Universityâ™s Core Human Resources, provides proactive guidance to ISC management and employees on the application of employment laws and regulations to ensures organizational compliance with federal, state and university policies and regulations. Leads ISC's coordination of performance management and all the training and resources needed to implement an effective performance feedback process. Â Serves as ISCâ™s primary liaison with university-wide HR meetings and committees.
The Director of HR for is responsible for the daily management and operations of ISC's Office of Human Resources. ISC HR provides centralized management of all stages of the employee life cycle.Â Functions include recruitment, leadership development, training and career development, performance management, resource planning, position management, salary administration, employee relations, management of special programs specifically for ISC staff, organizational design, conducts new staff orientation and exit interviews. Centrally manages all resource (staff, students, temporary workers and contractors) on- and off-boarding for the organization. Maintain current knowledge of University HR policies, and best practices, as well as IT specific workforce strategies. The department is a trusted consultant and advisor to all ISC staff.
A Bachelorâ™s Degree and minimum of 5 to 7 years of HR experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Â
Demonstrate the ability to provide strong consulting, project management, communication (written and verbal), problem solving, mediation and organization skills.Â
Must be service oriented, be able to work collaboratively on a team, and forge strong working relationships with ISC management, as well as with HR partners.Â
Experience in interpersonal conflict resolution, employee relations and coaching skills, investigating issues, and providing appropriate resolutions.
Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality in response to staff and organizational needs.
Must be tech-savvy with an ability to analyze and interpret data and embrace technology to enhance the performance of ISC HR functions.Â
Experience in assessing, developing and redesigning programs and strategies to ensure ISC is positioned with a highly skilled, high performing work force to support the strategic direction of IT systems & services of the future.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to HR, prior use of Workday and demonstrated experience with an IT workforce are highly desirable.
