Priest Lake Veterinary Hospital is now accepting applications for a full time LVT or Experienced Veterinary Medical Assistant!
We are a long established Non corporate private practice in the South east Nashville area. Our management style is kind, caring and is based on common sense and fairness. We operate in a beautiful new very well-equipped facility and provide a relaxed work atmosphere with 30 minute appointments. Our mix of patients is approximately 80% dogs and cats and 20% exotic pets...birds, reptiles, rabbits, hedgehogs, and small pocket pets.

Priest Lake is seeking a Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant with a professional, polished disposition and a joyful and friendly personality who is dedicated to ensuring and delivering exceptional care to our patients and excellent service & communication their owners.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills (phone and in person) and enthusiasm for their job and, naturally, a passion for the pets! We are seeking an emotionally mature, reliable individual with optimistic outlook who wants to contribute to the trust & loyalty our clients have in us. Ability to multitask, change gears among tasks quickly and seamlessly, and prioritize is essential.

This team member's responsibilities (minimum skills required for this position) & opportunities include but are not limited to:
Take proper & thorough medical history and TPR
Taking samples, setting up & reading in-house labs
IV catheter placement
Phlebotomy (independently taking blood draws, with restraint assistance)
Surgery prep & anesthesia monitoring
Sterilizing, pack/prep and sanitizing rooms between patients.
Assist lead vet tech and/or DVM in all capacities, including drawing up vaccines, exam rooms, weighing patients, discussing preventatives, treatment plans, etc...
Hospital patient care, monitoring, keeping thorough medical progress notes, patient discharge
Dental prophylaxis & digital dental radiographs
Assisting with radiographs (digital)
Collecting & preparing laboratory samples & requisitions to send off
Keeping records complete and up-to-date at all times
Filling doctor-approved prescriptions or refills
Performing cold laser therapy sessions (experience is a huge plus but on the job training can be arranged)
Enthusiastically educating clients, demonstrating genuine love & concern for pets
building lasting professional relationships with clients and their furry friends, maintaining a clean, uncluttered, efficient, calm, safe, welcoming, professional atmosphere for our furry patients as well as the owners on the other end of the leash
Selecting/entering line item service charges in software with accuracy
assisting, on occasion, in other areas of the clinic such as: answering phones; kennels; cleaning; helping clients get pets in/out car at drop off/pick up; smiling and welcoming everyone with a pleasant and professional demeanor and upbeat attitude
offering a calm, level-headed, organized response to stress or during busy times and remain poised and confident when clients push or challenge you
enthusiastically contribute to the trust and loyalty our clients place with us
energetically greet patients, clients, co-workers
conscientiously keep patient charts, notes, lab results, boarding/hospital sheets in order, filed in appropriate place an doing so in a timely and organized manner
must be able to occasionally lift 40 lbs without assistance, help move large dogs or 40+lbs with assistance
must be able to work some Saturdays to 1PM as assigned
