At INTEC Group, we’re about two things: people and design. More specifically, we’re about how design affects people. How they work, how they connect and how they find fulfillment. We believe design has the power to enhance the human condition, and we are passionate about doing just that.
INTEC is a mid-sized firm that provides its staff with the project opportunities and growth potential of a larger company along with the ability to be more intimately involved in projects, as is often anticipated in smaller firms. As a result, this is a unique opportunity for a hybrid position that will appeal to those that pride themselves on being able to strike the perfect balance between the right-brained and left-brained approach to their work; you will be asked to flex your creative muscles, put your technical knowledge and skills to the test and leverage your managerial and interpersonal skills by overseeing collaborative project efforts with both staff and clients alike…and all in a typical day!
Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): This is not your typical, everyday opportunity; this role is best suited for someone with a strong intrapreneurial spirit who appreciates a good challenge and is open to exploring a unique opportunity with us! We are looking for someone to not only be our “boots on the ground” for a current, long-term project in the Boston area but to also help us grow our presence and further establish our relationships with new and existing clients in that market. And while we may not (currently) have a physical office in Boston, we have an amazing client offering us a backlog of work and a solid plan to make it happen…now, we just need the right person to help us bring it all together! If you think this could be you, we’d appreciate the opportunity to tell you more.
As a Project Architect/Manager on the INTEC Group team, you will:
Lead a project team through design and delivery processes, on various commercial development, renovation and/or construction projects (in a remote capacity).
Prepare project schedules and cost estimates; monitor budgets, contractual obligations and deliverables.
Manage workflow and production of deliverables of the team.
Assist in the production of project designs, plans and specifications as required.
Interface with clients, contractors, consultants, and permitting officials; successfully manage client expectations, team communication and oversight of consultant coordination.
Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex design challenges.
Utilize hand sketches and 3D software to communicate design concepts and details.
Perform a variety of construction administration services including participating in progress meetings, complete punch list walk-thrus, review shop drawings and change orders, conduct field observations, prepare meeting minutes and respond to payment application requests.
Provide ongoing QA/QC of project deliverables.
Make decisions that ensure both profitability and design quality.
Maintain ongoing, positive and productive client relationships through successful project delivery.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities with both existing and potential clients.
Travel 2-3 days per month (for now) to our Fairfax, VA corporate headquarters to connect with the team F2F on both a professional and personal level.
Qualified and interested candidates should submit a resume and a portfolio or work samples in ordered to be considered.
Qualifications needed to be successful in this role include:
Professional degree (Masters or Bachelor) in Architecture from an accredited school.
A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience focused on base building and commercial core and shell projects; lab/life science experience is preferred; commercial interiors experience is a plus.
Professional architectural license required.
LEED and or WELL accreditation preferred but not required.
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup and other 3D modeling software
Experience with the entire project lifecycle, from master planning through post-occupancy.
Skillfully able to lead, manage and navigate multiple projects, of varying size and scope concurrently.
Strong, comprehensive knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications and construction techniques.
Team-oriented, with strong leadership and relationship management skills; willing to mentor and work collaboratively with project team members of all experience levels.
About INTEC Group, Inc.
AT INTEC GROUP,
WE’RE ABOUT TWO THINGS:
PEOPLE AND DESIGN.
More specifically, we’re about how design affects people. How they work, how they connect and how they find fulfillment. We believe design has the power to enhance the human condition, and we are passionate about doing just that.
Our roots date back to 1984 when we were established as one of the first firms to combine architecture and interior design as an integrated concept. Today, our focus on integration takes our journey beyond architecture – we bring holistic, consistent and thoughtful results to our clients. By fusing concept innovation, brand, research and advanced technology to our process, we’re able to connect with our clients and bring their unique and personal missions to life.
We have offices in Fairfax, VA; Washington, DC; and Charlotte, NC. Our robust portfolio includes everything from intimate, corporate interior spaces to substantial, ground up base building projects; we focus on the workplace, repositioning (landlord services), retail, mixed-use/multi-family and religious market sectors but collectively have the staff expertise in other areas to take on a wide variety of opportunities that come our way!
