Bachelorâs degree in communications, agricultural communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, English or related degree. Additional years of relevant writing, digital information management and marketing or communications experience. Ability to translate complex scientific/technical information into readable communications aimed at lay audiences. Experience writing news, web and feature content for targeted audiences, and experience in website content maintenance.
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University seeks a Communications Specialist II or III - Digital Content Creator. This position will be responsible to research, write and disseminate strategic content â keyed to relevance, mission and impact â that tells the stories of the college to general and targeted audiences. The Communications Specialist / Digital Content Creator will create fresh, timely, readable and compelling content primarily for digital media outlets, including the college website, social media, e-newsletters, news releases and digital campaigns. This person also will be a contributing writer to the collegeâs magazine, reports, impact statements and other storytelling channels.
In addition to the duties listed above, if hired at the Communication Specialist III level, the specialist will more involved with planning, developing, and executing the comprehensive communication strategy for the college. The Communications Specialist III requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience and would be a P33.
The successful candidate must be organized, energetic, detail-oriented, self-motivated, deadline-driven and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
