Provides support for the MSU College of Human Medicine in East Lansing Michigan. Responsibilities include computer troubleshooting, software support, audio / video support, and Simulation Center/Clinical Skills data management using a web based interface for clinical skills education, standardized patient encounters and Simulation center management. The candidate will contribute as a team member working with staff and students to support faculty and administration; assists in planning, installation, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems, peripheral hardware installs and PC hardware/software. The person in this position will also assist in video conferencing when necessary; training faculty, staff and students in the use of the CAE LearningSpace system; assisting with computer and audio/video support necessary for events at the Simulation and Clinical Skills Advanced Learning Center; performs other duties as assigned. This position involves walking, climbing ladders and stairs; reaching, lifting/carrying computers and components. This position is located at MSU's East Lansing, MI campus.
MSU Information Technology provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting information technology (IT) across MSU. MSU IT offers technology resources that support MSU’s mission of providing education, conducting research, and advancing engagement.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational or business school such as an associate's degree in computer technology or information systems with coursework specializing in computer science or information technology; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work in computer hardware/software support, network communications and end-user support; experience with PC software, and software imaging tools; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.
A combination of education and work experience in the field of information technology with a balanced focus of audio/visual and information technology or a bachelor's degree in information systems or computer science; comfortable interacting with a wide variety of end-users; familiarity with video conferencing equipment; experience with Microsoft products, MS Windows, Exchange, Office Professional and Adobe products; experience with a web-based system such as CAE LearningSpace; set-up and support of digital video equipment is preferred; working knowledge of the clinical and educational environment; excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task, provide training and support for faculty, staff, and students with varied levels of experience.
