We are seeking to hire a Technical Writer and Content Strategist to join our team. In this position, you will work with service owners and project teams to plan, develop, manage and evaluate content strategies to meet the objectives and needs of the campus community. We are looking for someone to work successfully under limited supervision, but also collaborate as part of a team. You will work closely with subject matter experts and end-users to understand new or changing technology/services and how they will meet the business needs of our customers. Based on this analysis, you will then develop appropriate content to support our services including, but not limited to, service descriptions, web page content, instructional materials, internal technical support guides, communications, and marketing materials.
Your responsibilities will include:
Content analysis, development, management and delivery: web content, instructional and internal technical knowledge development, marketing materials, communications; including content usability and user experience testing of content/design.
Community outreach: service specific outreach activities and student outreach events.
Other duties as assigned
This position is a fixed term and will end on 6/30/2020. There is a possibility of extension for an additional year based on availability of continued funding and performance.
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Instructional Design or equivalent discipline required
3+ years of relevant experience required
Experience in writing technical documentation, instructional materials and business process workflows
Strong communication planning and project management skills
Demonstrated familiarity with web-based communication techniques and strategies
Content management and style/standards experience
Documentation usability and user experience testing and analysis background
Close attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
Flexible personality who is able to adapt and embrace change and new technology
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interview customers and subject matter experts to gather service detail
Ability to quickly learn new software and other technologies
MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign), HTML, CSS
