Home of the American School of Architecture and a DesignIntelligence-ranked architecture program, the Gibbs College of Architecture invites applications for a 9-month, full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Architecture beginning in August 2020. We seek an emerging or established scholar and educator whose aspiration is to lead collaborative research initiatives in housing and/or construction methodologies. The position is open to a wide variety of approaches to housing and construction including research or practice in one or more of the following areas: social equity, design-build, participatory design, mass production, sustainability and resiliency, urban design, and real estate. We welcome applications from critical practitioners and established real estate professionals, as well as researchers engaged in historical, social science, or building technology research.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
Collaborating across disciplines on research and outreach initiatives
Working with faculty and students in our NAAB-accredited design programs to help maintain a curriculum consistent with program goals and related accreditation guidelines
Teaching undergraduate and graduate architecture courses including special topics seminars, lecture courses and design studios
Advancing a rigorous research and/or creative activity agenda;
Offering mentored research and or practice opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students in the program
Serving on committees at the program, college, university, and professional levels, as well as being actively involved in the community
A minimum of an accredited professional degree in Architecture, international equivalent such as RIBA, or a terminal degree such as an MBA or Ph.D. in Architecture or a related field
The ability to successfully teach architecture studios as well as seminars and lecture courses
Emerging record of research productivity or evidence of contributing to a successful design practice
Demonstrated ability to support a collegial and collaborative working environment in addition to possessing effective communication and inter-personal skills
Professional registration/licensure or a terminal degree such as an MBA or a Ph.D. will be required for tenure and promotion
Expertise in housing and construction methodologies including research related to social equity, design-build, participatory design, mass production, sustainability and resiliency, and urban design or
Expertise in urban design, real estate, or design entrepreneurship
Evidence of innovative teaching strategies in design studios including, but not limited to, community engagement design projects
Experience with cross-disciplinary teaching and service efforts in architecture
Evidence of successful collaborations in research, teaching or practice
Record of peer-reviewed research, technology patents, competition awards, or design awards
Preference may be given to those candidates who can articulate how they may address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion through their teaching, research and/or service
