Skipworth Veterinary Clinic is a one doctor, small animal practice located in central Kentucky. Our practice was established in 2008 and moved into a BRAND NEW facility in the fall of 2017. The clinic was thoughtfully designed with the highest standard of patient care in mind. It features complete diagnostic capabilities with digital radiography, ultrasound, and an in-house IDEXX laboratory. The 26-kennel hospital is fully equipped for overnight patients and emergencies, including access to oxygen. The surgical suite contains complete monitoring capabilities along with several handheld monitors for recovery. The clinic has three anesthesia machines and two dental machines for the treatment and surgery areas. Appointments are seen within four exam rooms, with one focusing on technician services and discharges. We operate completely paperless using the Impromed software system.
Dr. Skipworth has been in practice since graduating from Auburn University in 1992. He relies heavily on his experienced support staff to aid in his efficiency. His wife, Renee, and daughter, Lauren, work on the management side, allowing him to focus solely on the medicine. The clinic also has two receptionists, five technicians, and three kennel assistants on staff. He has worked with Rhonda (receptionist) for 27 years and Kendra (lead technician) for five. The practice's continual growth has prompted the need for an associate veterinarian. A veterinarian who is eager to continue learning, hardworking, relational, enthusiastic about the field, collaborate, outgoing, friendly, and compassionate will fill the position.
Dr. Skipworth is known for his surgical abilities as a general practitioner and will serve as an excellent teacher in this area. He is also confident and eager to take on tough internal medicine cases and is willing to implement new practices every day. A new associate veterinarian will have the opportunity to work alongside of him and collaborate on all cases during the first 6-8 months on the job, with no pressure for production.
The first 6-8 months on the job will be probationary, requiring 45 hours per week and an enthusiastic willingness to become a crucial part of the practice as a veterinarian. The associate will be expected to form relationships with the staff and clients, become acclimated with the day to day, and continue learning and growing in their medical knowledge and technical skills. The associate will be evaluated at the end of the the probationary period to discuss further employment requirements.
Additional Salary Information: Health insurance, life insurance, professional fees, continuing education allotment, 1 week of paid continue education, 2 weeks of PTO, and 8 paid holidays also included.
