The Master’s University& Seminary (TMUS) invites applications and nominations in the search for its next President. The President serves as the chief executive officer and will lead an institution dedicated to empowering students for a life of enduring commitment to Christ, biblical fidelity, moral integrity, intellectual growth, and lasting contribution to the Kingdom of God. TMUS seeks a leader with the theological and educational sophistication to preserve and advance this mission for future generations.
The Position: The President reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for articulating the University’s vision, mission, and values with internal and external stakeholders; supporting, overseeing, and enhancing the institution’s academic mission and overall operations; building upon the existing traditions, doctrinal distinctiveness, and strengths of the University; approving and overseeing the institutional budget; and securing external funding and donor support as well as strengthening relationships with existing ministry support partners. The President will collaborate with the Board in charting the course for the University. Additionally, the President will lead the executive team in implementing the plan while inspiring and motivating faculty, staff, and students to wholeheartedly participate in carrying out this agenda.
The Institution: Since 1927, TMUS has transformed young people to have an impact for Christ in the world. It is one of the last schools in the nation to hold firm to a literal six-day creation, staying true to its commitment to Christ and Scripture. Through seven academic schools and a seminary, the University educates more than 2,000 students annually, offering comprehensive undergraduate programs as well as a wide range of accredited, fully online undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Committed faculty and staff pour their lives into students, teaching them — with excellence — every academic discipline with a biblical worldview, ensuring that each graduate leaves TMUS with the skills and perspective to do all they do for the honor of God.
The dedication of University faculty and staff is evidenced by high student satisfaction: in 2016 and 2017 the Wall Street Journal asked TMUS students, “if you could start over, would you still choose this college?” The answers then were a resounding “yes” and the results from the recent Student Satisfaction Inventory given to 2,700 universities nationwide show the students’ strong satisfaction with their TMUS experience. Additionally, on three key questions related to student life, instructional effectiveness, and campus climate, TMUS student responses were 20 percent higher than their peers.
The University is located in Southern California on 30 beautifully landscaped acres. It comprises 35 academic and administrative buildings, six residence halls, seven athletic facilities, and an 800-seat recital hall. Its annual operating budget is $34 million and its physical plant is valued at $37 million. Additionally, it has an endowment of $17 million with total assets of $70 million. TMUS also offers the Israel-Bible Extension program, (IBEX) which is a 15-week semester-abroad opportunity.
Since 1986, The Master’s Seminary has graduated more than 1,800 men who are serving in 41 countries across the world—every continent except for Antarctica. They serve in a variety of roles, from pastor to chaplain to teaching faculty. What started in 1986 with 95 students has grown by God’s grace to a school that is currently training more than 600 men. The Seminary’s carefully crafted curriculum is founded on an unwavering commitment to the worship of God, the authority of His Word, the priority of the local church, the mission of gospel proclamation, and the purity of life required of spiritual leaders.
