Essential Job Duties:
The Coordinator of Pre-College Programs is responsible for the implementation of design education programs that further the programmatic mission of the Design Lab for K-12 Education and academic mission of the College of Design at NC State University.
This position is responsible for short- and long-term management of Design Lab pre-college programming (research, project development, implementation, evaluation and reporting results). This position will initiate and maintain working relationships with College of Design faculty, administration and students to develop and participate in Design Lab programs. In addition this position is a point of contact for parents, students, individuals, businesses, institutions and art and design practitioners throughout the region to connect with the College and University through the Design Lab. This position is responsible for qualifying content, facilitators and resources to ensure the programmatic mission of the Design Lab and the academic mission of the College of Design are supported.
Planning and Implementation of K-12 Pre-College Programs
Identify opportunities for outreach program development
Manage program planning, marketing, logistics, implementation, and assessment.
Contribute to pre-college program content, activities, and instructional objectives
Maintains systems, policies and procedures for program activities and logistics.
Supervises program registration and payment process for pre-college programs.
Maintains procedures for classroom management, student discipline, and safety plans for pre-college programs
Manages recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and supervision for part-time pre-college program staff.
Manage University contracts and agreements for program related services (Conference Services' Housing and Dining, Catering, Insurance, Facilities, Transportation)
Works with University service providers to meet the needs of Design Lab pre-college programs
Manages pre-college program informational materials and customer service.
Manage program assessment and documentation for presentation and publication
Support for Pre-College Program staff
Develops and organizes staff training materials
Schedules and leads staff training sessions.
Supervises teaching staff in developing projects, lesson plans, assessment procedures, supply, and equipment lists and all other aspects of program planning.
Advises beginning instructors needing additional support in developing successful lesson plans and schedules.
Financial Management for Design Lab programs and activities
Assists in program spending, income, and finances.
Records actual spending and income, and reconciles program budgets
Keeps records of payments, refunds, purchases, and statements for Design Lab accounts.
Fundraising and scholarship/ financial assistance development for Design Lab programs
Develop financial assistance/scholarship processes for program participants
Works to identify and secure ongoing sources of support for pre-college program scholarships and outreach programs
Contributes to strategic plans and proposals to fund new programs and initiatives
Communications and marketing for Design Lab programs and activities
Develops messaging and manages online and print communication and marketing for the Design Lab
Participates in events for stakeholders on behalf of the Design Lab in order to promote programming
Community and University engagement
Serve as liaison and advisor to NC State College of Design faculty, staff, and students working with minors and engaging in K-12 design education programming
Connects and maintains positive relationships with other colleges, universities, programs, and institutions as well as community organizations, businesses, educators and design professionals to support, participate and partner in programs
Participate as Design Lab representative at College of Design and University events as needed
Manage the Design Lab classroom space and reservation system for external program use
Manage insurance and risk management for Design Lab programs and activities
Maintain training and involvement with the Office of General Counsel and NC State K-12 Network in regards to safety for minors on campus.
Secure and manage insurance for programs as deemed necessary by the Office of Insurance and Risk Management.
Develop and manage medication policies, emergency procedures, and safety plans for all pre-college programs
Conduct yearly analysis on medication policies, emergency procedures, and safety plans for all pre-college programs. Report these policies, procedures and plans to Office of General Counsel and Office of Safety and Risk Management for annual approval.
Train staff on program policies and individual responsibilities regarding insurance, safety, risk management, emergencies and interaction with minors on campus.
Manage the appropriate handling, storage, and disposal of participant and staff medical and personal information.
Program Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting
Manage pre-college program evaluation and assessment to determine the success and long-term impact of Design Lab programs.
Develop reports of program assessment results, present to the Director of the Design Lab, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and the Dean of the College of Design, and keep an archive of the report for Design Lab records, presentations and publications.
Other duties as assigned.
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.

Excellent, demonstrable writing and communication skills.
Demonstrated aptitude and experience with short and long-term project management (research, project development, implementation, evaluation and results reporting).
Working knowledge of Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Macintosh Operating Systems (or similar systems).
Experience working in a leadership position within a camp environment.
Experience working with Design Camp at NC State University.
