The Associate Dean for Community Life reports directly to the Chief Enrollment and Student Affairs Officer and is an integral member of the Office of Student Life. The Associate Dean promotes a sense of belonging and inclusion in addition to adherence to community standards and is also responsible for reviewing and overseeing student conduct cases and the conduct review process. The Associate Dean advances equity and social justice practices with a focus on education and restorative justice, training students and faculty on the needs of our evolving community.
The Associate Dean for Community Life also serves as a resource for faculty and student concerns, sits on a variety of committees, and interacts regularly with internal and external constituents, including parents. As part of the Student Life team, the Associate Dean collaborates on all office projects, school-wide events, and initiatives, and provides support to various student leadership groups.
Oversees student conduct and community standards, upholding and updating policies and practices annually.
Responsible for reimagining and implementing the disciplinary process, including further embedding restorative practices and training all members of the disciplinary committee.
Oversees both Nova Nine and Student Diversity Practitioners, from election/selection to training to regular meetings and ongoing support.
Serves as liaison to the Office of Equity and Inclusion, engaging with programming and professional development.
Works in collaboration with Chief Enrollment and Student Affairs Office and Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer on the development of the all-school theme and implementation of Community Days and other all-school programming.
Runs Student Life Committee, surfacing student voice on issues large and small.
Offers professional development to faculty on community-based issues and needs.
Oversees Advising program, offering training, support, and resources to all advisors, evolving the program as necessary.
Oversees a class dean and/or advisor for two grade levels, handling disciplinary cases, class activities, and class bonding.
Collaborates with members of office to implement all school-wide events and activities.
Sits on Student Support Team, Enrollment Committee, and Community Life Team.
Teaches in Porter’s Seminar program.
Serves as Administrator on Duty (AOD).
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of post-baccalaureate experience in student life or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing difficult conversations and resolving conflicts.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated understanding of current student issues and trends.
