Major functions of this position are the supervision andadministration of construction projects to assure that they are constructed inaccordance with plans and specifications, within scope, budget and on schedule.The incumbent supervises all Construction Coordinators and Estimators and theprojects that they are responsible for and performs oversight and supervisionof tasks including leading, organizing, and participating indesign/construction teams; reviewing plans, specifications, and estimates;tracking construction budgets; observing and reporting specific work status onconstruction projects.
Responsiblefor the assignment of construction projects workload and responsibilities tothe Construction Coordinators and Estimators. Assists in the recruiting,interviewing, and hiring of staff. This position is also responsible forpersonnel management functions to include the supervision, discipline,evaluation and development of personnel.
Reviewsestimates and blueprints with Coordinators and Estimators for accuracy and completeness.Schedule and prioritizes construction projects. Reviews and approves purchasedocuments for materials, equipment, and contractual services. Assures scope of work is included in theoriginal estimate. Reviews work in progress, documenting, and reporting onstatus. Develops budget documents, specifications, details, and contract designand review. Provides direction and assistance to Coordinators and Estimators asneeded in the performance of their assigned duties.
TheConstruction Project Manager will facilitate project additions, estimatechanges and determine schedule impact. Determine whether client requests foradditional work requires commitment of additional funds. The ConstructionProject Manager will Inspect projects, identify problems and communicate withconstruction teams, architects, engineers, and interior design personnel toassure scope of work is accomplished to the standards of the University.Address code or safety problems as appropriate.
Ability to read and interpretbuilding system plans, details, schedules and specifications.
Knowledge of materials andmethods of construction; knowledge of building codes and industry standards;and a wide-range knowledge of building systems, components, and constructionmethods.
Expertise in developingconstruction estimates and performing construction inspections.
Knowledge of OSHA and LifeSafety Codes.
Strong written and oralcommunication skills and an ability to work and communicate effectively withdiverse groups of people.
Ability to multi-taskeffectively.
Ability to resolve problemsquickly and effectively;
Ability to influence areasoutside the technical area of expertise in a positive way and make positivecontributions to the team.
