We are seeking a Strategy & Planning Senior Manager to be responsible for helping lead and manage key strategy and planning efforts, including the development of planning tools and resources and the provision of strategic planning support for Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH). The Senior Manager will oversee, develop and collaborate on projects and planning efforts that advance the strategic objectives of PSJH. Following the lead of the Executive Director, System Strategy & Planning, this position will work closely with System and regional leaders to guide the development of strategic and operating plans, metric plans and dashboards, Certificate of Need and related business planning, and support for other strategic planning endeavors. As a strategy leader, this position requires strong use of initiative and independent judgment, but also will work collaboratively with other members of the team.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Develop and lead the implementation of tools and templates to drive consistent planning and outcomes, which includes working in partnership with System and regional leaders who are developing strategic plans, operating plans, growth plans, action plans and related dashboards. Coordinates and supports the preparation of planning events, leadership meetings or retreats, as necessary.
Provide project management support and expert facilitation for other key strategic planning, service line / line of business planning / clinical institutes, and other planning initiatives. This includes best practice research, strategic planning process development, sensing and facilitation support, and analytical information, as required; these efforts may be completed in partnership with the Strategic Implementation and Analytics functions.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of health care market trends and stay abreast of the evolving health care landscape to serve as a resource for strategic planning and planning activities. Utilizing qualitative and quantitative information, identify best practices & knowledge transfer opportunities, perform analyses, synthesize information and develop findings to support strategic decision-making. Identify internal and external resources, and develop collaborative partnerships with vendors to obtain strategic research and knowledge resources.
Develop innovative resources, workgroups and tools, and provide strategic thought leadership and conduits for knowledge transfer to advance the strategic capabilities of PSJH.
As appropriate, provide support for and/or leadership facilitation of strategy-related councils, committees, and workgroups. Serve as a strategic thought leader to inform meeting topics and priorities. Oversee and/or prepare agendas, meeting materials, action grids and committee deliverables to aid these groups in achieving their goals and objectives.
Oversee and lead the work of a group of caregivers via a direct reporting relationship. Demonstrate the ability to delegate, provide oversight and direction, and lead a highly sustainably engaged team of caregivers that achieves its goals. Empower caregivers to take responsibility for their work by promoting accountability and providing regular feedback. Support caregiver recruitment and retention, including providing performance management, recognition, and growth & development planning.
Respond to inquiries and day-to-day concerns in designated areas. Assist with SharePoint / One Drive / Smartsheet site development, as needed. Establish and maintain professional relationships with System and region staff, as appropriate. Perform other related assignments as required.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Planning, Finance or a related discipline.
This position requires a minimum of eight years of experience in health care, planning, business development, finance or a closely related field with demonstrated expertise in the use of computers and electronic systems for data extraction and analysis.
A minimum of six years of leadership experience in management or supervisory positions.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in business Administration, Health Care Administration, Planning, Finance or a related discipline.
5 years’ experience with health care planning and an understanding of the health care industry, operations, and reimbursement is preferred. Experience with regulatory processes and/or Certificate of Need.
5 years of training and experience in GE’s Change Acceleration Process (CAP), Work-out, Six Sigma and/or a comparable process improvement discipline is considered valuable.
