The Department of Technology at the University of Southern Maine invites applicants for a Lecturer of Information Technology and Cyber Security position. This is a non-tenure track position with potential renewability based on performance review and mutual agreement. This position will teach a four-four course-load, advise students, and provide services that support the students in the Information Technology and Cyber Security programs in the Department of Technology. Potential courses taught by this position will be a mixture of both Cyber Security and Information Technology technical and professional course. Course areas may include: databases, project management, cyber security, operating system security, forensics, penetration testing, web applications, and secure software. Additional responsibilities include student academic advising, engaging in university, department and community committees and service. The targeted starting date for this position will begin in Fall 2020.
The position has no specific scholarship requirement, but an individual is welcome to conduct research and involve students in research activities. The university provides incentives and assistance for scholarly endeavors.
The Department of Technology (DOT) is located in the John Mitchell Center on University of Southern Maine’s (USM) Gorham campus and offers: a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security, a Bachelor of Science in Technology Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Technical Leadership, and a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security. To be eligible for tenure track position, applicants must have a masters degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, Cyber Security or related field.
Six semesters teaching at a college level (or equivalent)
Documented ability to teach in both Information Technology and Cyber Security areas
A doctoral degree is preferred
One or more years’ experience working with business, industry, or governmental agencies
Individuals with Industry certifications are preferred
