This is the entry level shop position for the R&D department. The employee would be under close supervision, supporting testing and design of new products such as mufflers and exhaust systems, transmission shifters, differential covers, suspension components and other types of automotive related products.
Fabrication and welding of components and assemblies for testing.
General shop support.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have basic metal fabrication skills such as cutting, drilling and grinding.
Ability to perform basic measurements using tape measure and/or digital calipers.
Familiar with general automotive design and function.
Possess basic MIG and TIG welding skills.
Basic computer skills, word processing, spreadsheet, and Microsoft Windows program background.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent, or a minimum of 5 years work experience in related trade.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratio to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
