Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY: Advise new and continuing students in the College of Health & Human Services on curriculum requirements, academic achievement, course schedule planning, and professional program and university policies and procedures. Implement retention-based academic initiatives for high risk students. Assist with recruitment of health and human services students and applications to professional health and human services programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide information and assistance to health and human services students concerning academic programs, curricula, academic requirements and related policies and procedures.
Advise students in the selection of an academic program and related course selection.
Assist faculty and staff with professional program application process.
Assist students and monitor academic progress including general education and university degree requirements in addition to HHS program requirements to ensure timely and successful progress toward degree completion.
Maintain student records pertaining to academic advisement services.
Assist with recruitment of students to CHHS programs. Ensure that all student recruitment materials are accurate and available to students, staff and faculty.
Collaborate with other student services offices to ensure HHS student success.
Assist with programs and services for new students (e.g., orientation programs, Cardinal College Days, Admissions Open House) by participating in and/or coordinating HHS faculty and staff participation.
Establish and maintain regular contact with targeting high risk students.
Assist with targeting high risk student populations to monitor their academic progress including assessing their likelihood of submitting a competitive application for health and human services professional programs.
Provide appropriate assistance and intervention support services for targeted high risk student populations.
Other duties as assigned to impact student success and retention initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in advising.
Experience and ability to positively interact with diverse student populations and groups.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Bachelor's degree in health and human services related field.
Master's degree (or progress toward) in health and human services related field.
Knowledge of Ellucian (Datatel) and Perceptive Content to manage digital records.
