Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director, New Brunswick Summer for New Brunswick Summer Session. This position is responsible for the planning, development and execution of the Summer and Winter Session programs offered by Rutgers University-New Brunswick academic units. The Director oversees a free market, self-sustaining business valued at $40M for 2018 for the New Brunswick academic units, working closely with academic departments to plan programs and responsible for all marketing and administrative aspects of the program. As a member of the leadership staff of the Vice President for Continuing Education and Distance Learning, the Director also develops and oversees special programs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works with academic and administrative colleagues, advisory boards, and/or clients to strengthen existing programs and develop new offerings to meet current students' needs and attract new students to Summer and Winter Sessions and the University.
Oversees the delivery of Summer & Winter Sessions and special projects.
Works with other University offices to improve operations and processes to better serve students and program participants. Such as with Newark and Camden Summer Session directors in joint marketing initiatives.
Oversee marketing research, advertising, promotion, and enrollment of Summer and Winter Sessions and special projects, both internally and externally, to grow programs and revenues.
Leads the Summer and Winter Sessions team, setting strategic goals in alignment with the University and Division strategic plans, and providing supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for team members.
Serves on AAUPAFT bargaining unit committee and is expected to join the professional association, AUSS and NAASS.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A minimum of five years increasing responsibility in higher education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Have excellent leadership, interpersonal, facilitation, supervisory, project management, and oral presentation and written communication skills;
Demonstrate success in developing and implementing engaging, age-appropriate educational programs/courses/ events, with expertise in assessing market demand, developing program budgets and marketing plans, and evaluating program success;
Show a commitment to student/participant success and a solid track record in consulting and collaborating with academic and administrative colleagues and clients;
Demonstrate the ability to lead strategic planning for the unit in alignment with the Division’s and University's mission.
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Preferred skills include strong survey and focus group research, data analysis, and familiarity with summer and winter term processes and systems.
An earned Ph.D. and active engagement in professional associations, including AUSS, and NAASS, are also preferred,
