George Mason University, Information Technology Services (ITS) – located on the Fairfax, Va., campus—invites applications for a Business Analyst position within the Enterprise Service Delivery (ESD), Business Solutions team. The Business Analyst will work as part of the Business Solutions team providing Business Analysis support and guidance for the development Information Technology solutions. Support includes working with other ESD staff and university business units to identify and document requirements and business processes.
Responsibilities related to this include assisting customers with business processes related to information technology, serving as a liaison to the ITS organization, developing requirements documents and deliverables, and coordinating work with the customer and other areas of ITS.
Analytical ability sufficient to understand user requirements and translate them into technical terms to develop design specifications and identify and quantify issues and risks;
Ability to facilitate service/process mapping sessions with stakeholders to help drive system design and requirements development;
Experience with project management (e.g., attention to process detail, planning, and task management);
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaboration and influence skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization;
Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines;
Strong ability to facilitate meetings with cross-functional (technical and business users) teams;
Significant demonstrated experience in applications software full life cycle software development, support and systems analysis; and
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working within a formal software development lifecycle (SDLC);
In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation as detailed in the IIBA's BABOK;
Experience with typical phases of the product development lifecycle, including analysis, design, testing, and integration of products as well as the introduction of products to the user community;Knowledge of basic IT security requirements;
Business Analysis or Business Process Management Certification; and
ITIL Certification (Foundation or above)
