The Academic Resource Center at Harvard University seeks a full-time Academic Coach. The Academic Resource Center is the primary provider of academic support to students in Harvard College and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The ARCS's mission is to empower students to reach their full academic potential through skills-based resources, consultations, workshops, tutoring, and coaching. Using evidence-based methods, the ARC supports students in developing reading strategies, time management, and metacognitive approaches to their learning. ARC staff work in collaboration with staff and faculty in academic departments and co-curricular offices to support students' classroom experiences and give all students full access to the education that is part of the mission of Harvard College and GSAS. This academic coach will be the primary liaison with departments in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences This coach will also work with students and faculty in courses fulfilling the Empirical and Mathematical Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning with Data requirements of the General Education curriculum. Core duties include:
Design and facilitate workshops and discussions for students teaching topics such as core academic skills like strategic reading, effective study strategies, and exam preparation; executive function skills like time management, attention/concentration, personal accountability, and motivation; how to overcome common academic challenges like perfectionism and procrastination; and other general skills related to college learning
Design and facilitate workshops targeted to students studying STEM fields, taking quantitative, data, and/or problem-set based courses, and/or doing research in STEM
Facilitate group sessions, accountability programs, and other programs as requested by academic departments, co-curricular offices, and partner College offices
Meet one-on-one with students whose individual academic challenges can be better addressed outside of a group instructional setting.
Assist students in developing academic plans and academic goal setting
Develop and maintain online tools and programs to support students with above topics
Participate fully in the College academic community: Work closely with departmental faculty and academic staff to create workshops and training for specific departments and disciplines; liaise with academic departments and co-curricular offices to provide academic support offerings to at-need students
Participate in regular professional development;
Maintain records and provide reports; other activities and duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree required. 3+ years of experience providing academic support to university students in one or more areas related to college learning, such as peer tutoring programs, teaching, reading and study skills, learning difficulties/disorders/disabilities, advising, or academic coaching. Degree, credential or equivalent experience/competency in quantitative methods/field.
Master's degree preferred. Demonstrated interest and experience working with a student and colleague populations that are highly diverse in terms of, for example, race, language of origin, ethnicity, nationality, religion, first-generation to college, age, socio-economic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic abilities and interests. Knowledge of best practices in quantitative literacy and education. Understanding of high school STEM curricula and transitions to college learning. Ability to provide 1:1 support to students, as well as to coach tutors and advise faculty/instructors. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent materials development and project management skills. Higher education teaching experience a plus. Experience advising/mentoring students in higher education a plus. Knowledge of best practices in the field of academic support, academic coaching, and liberal arts curricula. Knowledge of/experience with development and use of online tools for academic support a plus.
