The Department of History at The University of Texas at San Antonio, a recognized, Hispanic Serving Institution, invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the field of Latin America and the World, beginning Fall 2020. Candidates' research and teaching interests should examine international relations including the human, material, biological links between Latin America and other world regions. All time periods will be considered. We seek candidates whose research and teaching contribute to the department theme of “Empires, States, and Borders.” Experience in digital humanities and public history is especially welcomed. The successful candidate must demonstrate their ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse urban populations and support the University’s commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success.
Responsibilities include a 2:2 teaching load of undergraduate and masters-level courses related to the area of expertise, while conducting an active program of research that contributes to scholarship in the field. Additionally, faculty will serve on departmental committees and offer university service. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population and be committed to assisting the University’s commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution. Applicants must have completed the Ph.D. by the start of the appointment.
