The Brigid Alliance is a nationwide service providing financial and logistical support for those who must travel for later abortion care. By bridging the gap between the right to an abortion and the ability to access one, Brigid makes choice possible. The organization seeks to address the alarming gap they see growing between individuals who need care and their ability to access it.
The Brigid Alliance (Brigid) works closely with the community of abortion funds, specialist clinics, advocacy organizations, and volunteer networks across the nation to ensure that abortion remains an option for individuals even as laws become more restrictive across the country. The organization focuses on serving the highest risk abortion seekers in the United States, working with individuals and communities disproportionately affected by abortion restrictions: people living at or below the federal poverty line, people of color, minors, undocumented immigrants, individuals living in states hostile to women’s healthcare, those who rely on Medicaid or those who are uninsured.
Since its inception over a year ago, The Brigid Alliance has become a national force in abortion care, meeting an often-overlooked need among individuals seeking services. In just one year, the organization grew its budget to $500k and provided support to 530 women who otherwise would not have had access. Brigid is recognized for its high-quality, person-centered care, and has helped clients travel an average of 1,050 miles from 45 states. The organization’s work is highlighted in regular news coverage and awareness of its vital services is growing quickly.
As a result of a recent facilitated strategy development session, The Brigid Alliance has outlined a three-year plan for growth that details an expansion of its impact through program development and coalition building. To support this growth and strengthen its foundation, the organization seeks a Director of Resource Development to build and advance its nascent but successful fundraising efforts and increase revenue from $530k to approximately $1m by the end of 2020 with an eye for further growth based on future strategic objectives.
The Director will join a passionate and committed team at a critical stage in its evolution. Working alongside the Executive Director and Founders, the Director will lead fundraising strategy development and be responsible for the management, growth, and diversification of The Brigid Alliance’s development program.
The Director will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and strategic leader and will play an important role in the expansion of the organization. They will work as a member of a highly intelligent team of 3 staff headquartered in New York City. In addition to being adept at developing a creative and methodical nationwide fundraising strategy, they must also be a hands-on, nimble project manager and leader capable of working collaboratively and collegially within the organization and with external audiences.

Collaborate with The Brigid Alliance Board and Executive Director to develop and implement a national strategic annual fundraising plan to achieve budgeted goals for contributed revenue from individuals, foundations and special events
Support and advise Board development efforts, working with leadership to develop thoughtful opportunities for engagement and recruit new Board members
Develop Brigid’s major donors, creating meaningful engagement opportunities and thoughtful appeals for funding; advise and direct all large gift solicitation
Build an annual giving plan to cultivate and solicit individual donors; create a pipeline for major donor development
Lead the development of private foundation funding by researching, cultivating and soliciting key funders
Develop and ensure annual reporting for all supporters
Collaborate with the organization’s communications consultant, Executive Director and Board on communications efforts, working to relay its mission and achievements in a compelling, donor-centric manner through a variety of platforms and publications
Ensure up-to-date data and records and produce progress and revenue reports for the Board
Work collaboratively and thoughtfully with The Brigid Alliance team and external stakeholders
Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for Brigid’s work
A minimum of five to seven years of nonprofit fundraising or related experience; major gift and foundation experience preferred

Experience working with New York City’s philanthropic community
A creative and strategic approach to revenue generation, patience, and flexibility to take on new and varied challenges with an eye for both near- and long-range goals
A track record of success in soliciting, negotiating, and closing substantial gifts from individuals and foundations; a love of ‘the ask’
Experience thoughtfully building a pipeline of supporters
Experience developing meaningful strategies to engage supporters through events
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a persuasive communication style
Experience with a donor management database system
Integrity, flexibility, a positive attitude, and entrepreneurial work style
Self-motivation, creativity, and enthusiasm for both high-level strategy and detail-oriented work
A good listener and strategist
An authentic commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Experience in sexual and reproductive health, or an ability to quickly learn the context of the organization’s work
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 annualized, commensurate with experience. Benefits offered include medical insurance, vacation, personal and sick time and paid parental leave, as well as the opportunity to work remotely 2-3 days per week.
