This job requires a creative and adaptive thinker to support current and future technical directions in the disciplines of Art & Design. This individual will have the ability and experience to interface with students of different art and design backgrounds and interests in order to help facilitate their vision.
Primary responsibilities of the Art & Design Laboratory Technician include oversight of two inter-sectional laboratories, Digital Fabrication Laboratory and Woodworking Laboratory, that are utilized by a diverse population of students from across the areas and majors within the Department of Art & Design.
MFA or BFA with equivalent professional work experience.
Broad experience with the creative process and technical aspects of studio art, its processes, materials and related equipment.
Working knowledge of:
relevant materials and supply vendors.
woodworking, and contemporary equipment and methods.
Familiarity with 3D modeling software.
Experience and skills in welding.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and organizational communication skills.
Excellent technical and budgetary skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical, safety, and instructional support to Art & Design students.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations of students and faculty.
Knowledge of methods, principles and practices of studio safety procedures.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Prior experience as studio manager/technician in a studio art setting.
Knowledge of studio art facilities and their workings.
MIG, TIG, GAS welding, and bronze casting experience.
Experience with gas and electric kiln maintenance and operations.
Familiarity with Digital Fabrication Laboratories and 3D media.
Salary is $1,592.25 biweekly, $41,526.00 annually with comprehensive benefits, including undergraduate tuition waiver for employee/dependents.
