This full-time position is located at the UCSD Rady School of Management. The Rady School provides business education through its PhD program, Masters degree programs, undergraduate minors and courses, executive business seminars, and other programs. The Rady School of Management's Art Director, in partnership with the Rady Director of Marketing & Communications, is responsible for defining, creating and maintaining the visual brand for the Rady School of Management and communicating the standards of excellence that UCSD and the Rady School of Management embrace.
This position is the sole graphic artist at the Rady School but is part of the Rady School's Marketing & Communications department. The Art Director works closely with the Rady School's MarCom team to visualize and implement campaigns designed to attract potential students, communicate with donors, update alumni or build brand awareness on the regional, national or international stage.
The position is critical to the success of the Rady School in that it influences our image and our enrollment through our recruitment & admissions campaigns. The position translates the mission of the Rady School and reaches out to a variety of audiences. The position creates original graphic solutions for print, outdoor, web and multimedia graphics from concept through production combining creativity and marketing principles.
The position participates in Marketing & Communications meetings with our internal clients, discusses project objectives, deliverables and timelines and provides logistics support by clarifying and summarizing next steps related to photography, graphics, video and other projects. The position builds rapport with clients and discusses client ideas & preferences. The Art Director/Graphic Artist uses persuasion, insight, and flexibility to assist the client in reaching a final selection and uses creative insight to promote collaboration.
The Art Director is responsible for creating original photography, or sourcing and editing stock photography. The individual is responsible for maintaining and updating the Rady corporate brand standards, the Rady branding library, and the Rady image/photo library.Come be part of something positive that changes the world: Education.

Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Arts, Fine Arts, Advertising or other graphic arts related field and a minimum of five (5) years graphics design experience in an agency or marketing department with an emphasis on collateral material design, development, and production; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven knowledge and artistic experience in graphic design, including developing graphics, creating layouts, and obtaining images for both print publications and web pages as well as experience with print production processes.
Advanced technical knowledge and experience in the use of Adobe Creative Suite ie InDesign, and Illustrator. Advanced Photoshop editing skills. Experience with Dreamweaver, particularly using it for eblasts.
Project management experience of a multi-step, non-sequential process, preferably in marketing & communications/production environment. Experience monitoring progress of others in different departments, with peer and/or client relationships between the project manager and those delivering services.
Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in the design and print processes, including preflighting for offset/digital printing.
Experience finding, preparing, and editing photos, illustrations, and other graphics for digital use and print use. Experience using a digital camera to produce high quality images for web and print use.
Demonstrated experience with branding guidelines, templates and branding web communications.
