Working closely with the University Career Engagement leadership team, the successful candidate will provide strategic and proactive employer engagement to develop long-term employer relationships and increase employment opportunities and professional connections for all UT Austin students and alumni.
Support career services, campus partners and employers in the design, development and implementation of internship and career experience-related programming, services and resources. Identify barriers to internship and career experience participation and develop solutions to increase student access and engagement. Establish working committees to provide opportunities for sharing and idea generation. Collaborate with campus partners to integrate career competencies into the wider student experience and to foster a campus culture that uses the core competencies to articulate the strengths of a UT education. Oversee the inventory of internship and career experience-related staff, programs, services and resources across campus. Conduct a yearly assessment of these components for best practices, areas requiring further support, and new opportunities to be developed. Plan and execute a university-wide internship fair and other career experience-related events.
Create and implement employer engagement strategies to cultivate new multi-faceted relationships with employers who offer internship and other career experiences that help prepare students for post-graduation success. Connect employers with university contacts to develop campus-wide recruiting, relationship and partnership opportunities. Provide campus-wide leadership in the internship and career experience space. Lead discussions on innovation and trends to help the University prepare for and change with advancements in the field.
Partner with academic units, faculty and career centers on internship and career experience curriculum integration and course development. Provide guidance and resources for course processes, risk management and learning development.
Supervise, support and mentor staff. Maintain compliance with all related federal, state, institutional, UT System, and NACE regulations, guidelines, and best practices, and ensure staff do likewise.
Educate students, campus partners, families and others on the value of internships and career experiences. Create and promote accessible internship and career experience toolkits and resources. Develop a comprehensive communications plan to promote diverse opportunities that support the various post-graduation plans of UT Austin students.
Support data collection, analytics and assessment in areas related to internship and career experience participation rates, opportunities, learning development and outcomes.
Represent University Career Engagement at high-profile events, committee meetings and work-groups. Attend conferences and professional development meetings pertinent to advancing career services.
Required Qualifications Master's degree in education, counseling, or a related field. Eight years of professional experience in career services, higher education, student recruitment or related industry role performing a variety of corporate recruiting or career activities and programming. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with students and campus partners. Excellent event planning and project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and logistics for career-related programming. Excellent public speaking and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and operate under high-pressure situations. Ability to work independently as well as within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Attention to detail.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will exceed the required qualifications and have significant experience at a Director or Associate/Assistant Director level preferred. Experience working in a corporate environment and knowledge of corporate/industry recruiting practices. Experience and expertise in developing experiential learning opportunities. Experience preparing students to learn from, reflect on and articulate the value of experiential learning. Experience working with faculty on experiential learning curriculum integration. Ability to effectively interact and develop relationships with on and off-campus recruiters/human resources contacts to help connect UT Austin students with opportunities. Experience supervising staff and graduate students. Familiarity with UT departments and campus programs. Experience organizing and implementing large events. Proficiency in data management.
Additional Salary Information: $112,000 + depending on qualifications
