Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Director of Sponsored Research Program Administration, the successful candidate serves as a member of the Grant and Contract Accounting team (GCA), and is responsible for the monitoring and review of financial reports and grants management oversight as related to sponsor reporting deliverables for NJIT grant and contracts. This includes, but is not limited to sponsored projects management, research accounting, compliance and sponsor invoicing and reporting. The Sr. Grant Accountant will also provide accounting support services to associate and assistant director
Prerequisite Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field. Minimum of five years of accounting experience, preferably in a university grant and contract accounting department. Skilled in programming using Excel, Cognos and other systems applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Sr Grant Accountant must have a comprehensive understanding of research administration with in-depth knowledge of OMB Circulars (A110, A-21, A-133) and other research regulatory requirements, specifically the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
