The Senior Redesign Director will be responsible for a variety of high-level organizational and strategic planning efforts connected to the Everyone Graduates Center. This position will focus on leading the Network School Improvement Initiative building the capacity of four major school districts and forty middle schools to support a culture of Continuous Improvement to increase 8th grade on track rates. This individual will demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills to interact with all levels of district leadership, diverse partners, school leaders, school teams and foundations.
NOTE: This position is contingent upon the funding of a five year grant.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead proposal development and strategic partnerships with foundations, districts and principals
Lead and act as technical expert for four major districts and forty middle schools to build capacity for implementation of continuous improvement approaches
Co-construct create materials customized for presentations, artifacts and tools, brochures and other aspects of necessary communications to support the implementation of networked school improvement communities
Serve as key member of the design unit of the Everyone Graduates Center staff working with the Director and members of the design team to successfully organize and implement initiatives that result in achieving the mission and vision
Serve as key member of the High School Redesign Team collaboration between Center for Social Organization of Schools (CSOS) and CityYear
Design and implement programs to support CityYear Staff to develop knowledge and capacity to support the implementation of networked improvement communities and to lead the creation of evidence-based site plans, customized to local contexts
Design and facilitate customized training workshops created for each district and localized CityYear Program staff including videos, readings, digital presentations, and learning activities
Serve as thought partner, review proposals; make site visits, as appropriate; prepare written summaries and analysis documents to aid in successful implementation and feedback
Co- design and support program monitoring process for projects; as needed
Make presentations to district leaders, school leaders, foundation leadership and staff
Designs protocols for initiated projects; support planning committees of community leaders and experts, as appropriate
Pursue opportunities to further implementation of networked school improvement through a variety of other methods.
Demonstrate technical expertise with data dashboards and early warning systems
Keep current on educational issues of importance and educational policy through literature review, contact with social and professional communities, and participating in relevant conferences
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Master’s Degree in related field
Five years of experience
Master’s Degree in Education
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:
Experience teaching in high needs schools
History of strong collaboration with diverse partners and partnership management
Strong design and strategic thinking skills
Experience leading cohorts of school and district leaders
Experience working with school teams and principals
Experience designing technical assistance plans for schools and districts
Extensive communication skills, both orally and written
Experience with Early Warning Systems and Data Dashboards
Experience with applications and management of grants
Significant skills in organizing, analyzing, presenting data, reaching conclusions and developing recommendations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with a wide range of individuals
Ability to work closely with partner organization on joint projects on a range of school improvement efforts including but not limited to continuous improvement, high school redesign, competency based learning and multi-tiered early warning systems
Openness to growth and change
Experience with project management with a high level of organization and detail
